WASHINGTON STATE (DEC. 4, 2015) – Northwest Farmers Union (NWFU) and President Kent Wright are hosting a roundtable discussion on the Beef Checkoff program in Washington state. The talks will revolve around the proposed increase to the checkoff. NWFU members and the public are encouraged to attend and express their opinions about the proposal.

 

Representative Tom Dent and Senator Judy Warnick are analyzing the idea of an increase in depth and have been searching for industry wide opinion to be able to act upon that in the upcoming session.  The desire is to have individuals involved in all forms of the beef industry to attend the meeting and voice their opinions. Shannon Neiberg, Ph.D and State Extension Specialist Livestock Economics, from Pullman, WA will be on hand to speak to the attendees.

 

“Come one and come all,” states Wright. “We want everyone to try to make it in person, but if your not able to come please give me a call or an email and we can discuss your opinion.”

 

The meeting is available to all whether or not you are NWFU member does not matter. The event is being held at the Moses Lake Fire Station building at 6:30pm and will last until 9:00pm on Wednesday December the 9th.
